LEGAL NOTICES

The Dicastery for Communication (formerly Secretariat of Communication, established on June the 27th  2015 with Apostolic Letter in the form of Motu Proprio "The current communication context" and called Dicastery for Communication with Rescriptum ex Audientia Ss.mi of February the 27th  2018 entered into in force on  June the 24th  2018) is a Dicastery of the Roman Curia which heads the communication system of the Apostolic See (hereinafter "DPC").

The DPC's task is to develop a new unitary, integrated and multimedia communication system at the service of the evangelizing mission of the Church.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE

Access, consultation and use of the pages of this portal (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Portal’), as well as the use of the services offered therein, imply acceptance by you (hereinafter ‘User’) of the present “Terms and Conditions of Use”.

The SPC reserves the right to make, without notice and at any time, at its absolute discretion, modifications and/or updates to the contents of the Portal and to these Terms and Conditions of Use by informing the User through publication on the Portal itself. Access after modification and/or updating of the Terms and Conditions of Use means that they are fully accepted by the User.

Intellectual Property Rights

The contents of the Site, including, but not limited to, images, sounds, videos, music, text(s), photographs, graphics, files, trademarks, logos, news items, software and any other material and/or information in any format (hereinafter referred to as ‘Content’) are the sole property of the SPC, or in any case at the SPC’s disposal, and are protected by copyright, and in any event may not, in whole or in part, in any form or by any means, be used, modified, copied, distributed, published, transmitted, transferred, reproduced or otherwise made available without the prior written consent of the SPC, including sale, sublicense, derivative use or exploitation in any way, even free of charge.

The Portal may also contain images, documents, products, logos and trademarks of third parties that have expressly authorized the SPC to publish them on the Portal: these are also protected by copyright.

It is expressly forbidden to reproduce the trademark and / or SPC logo.

The name ‘Secretariat for Communications’ cannot be used as the internet address of other sites or as part of those addresses.

Limitations of Liability

 

The contents of this Portal are provided in good faith and the SPC ensures that such Content meets the requirements of reliability, fairness and completeness. However, mistakes, inaccuracies and omissions are possible and the SPC therefore declines any responsibility in this regard by providing timely correction if and when they should be reported.

The SPC assumes no liability whatsoever with respect to the use that third parties may make of Content.

Under no circumstances shall the SPC be liable for any viruses or contaminations resulting from access to the Portal and/or navigation on the same that may be found by the User.

The SPC assumes no responsibility either for the Content of third party websites with which the SPC Portal has activated a hyperlink (hereinafter ‘link’) or for the use of said links by the User.

Links do not imply SPC approval of linked websites, and SPC declines any responsibility for the quality, Content and graphics of linked webistes. The User who decides to view the above-mentioned websites does so at his or her risk assuming full responsibility for any damage from viruses or contamination resulting from access and/or viewing of the sites themselves.

In any case, the SPC shall not be liable for damages and/or losses and/or prejudices of any kind, whether direct or indirect, arising out of or in any way linked to the use of the Portal and/or the Content thereof or to the display and/or the use of the Content of linked sites that third parties may have.

Protection of personal data

The SPC guarantees that the personal data of the User of which SPC becomes aware following the use of the Services (hereinafter ‘Services’) available on the Portal will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and exclusively for the purposes for which the Services themselves are provided. Any third-party service provider of the Site Services, subject to the guarantee of the processing of the data with the same level of confidentiality as the SPC, may become aware of the User's personal data.

The User making use of these Services will automatically agree to the processing of personal data and, if the User does not agree, the User shall not make use of the Services available on the Portal.

Applicable Law and Competent Forum

The present terms and conditions of use are governed by the law in force in Vatican City and any dispute arising out of the interpretation or execution of such matters shall be the sole responsibility of the Vatican City Tribunal.
