Pope's images and words light up the Eternal City for Christmas

Large screens around the Vatican display photos and messages of Pope Leo XIV as part of a Christmas initiative promoted by the Dicastery for Communication in collaboration with Selfiestreet, running through December 31.

In place of the usual brightly colored advertisements for travel packages and holiday desserts, images of Pope Leo XIV dominate the façades of buildings across Rome.

For several days, these images have appeared on large screens across the Eternal City, illuminating public spaces such as Piazza Risorgimento, the corner of Via Ottaviano, and Via Tunisi in front of the Vatican Museums. The displays feature photographs and reflections drawn from his speeches, offering messages for the Christmas season and an invitation to hope.

The Christmas campaign is promoted by the Dicastery for Communication in collaboration with Selfiestreet, using large screens installed near the Vatican. Passersby often stop to read the messages displayed alongside images of the Pope with the faithful and Jubilee pilgrims.

The initiative, which runs through December 31, is also being widely shared on social media. According to a communique, “the presence of the Holy Father’s message in public spaces during the Christmas season serves as a sign of spiritual closeness and a reminder of the values of peace, hope, and fraternity.”
