Pope Leo speaks with the President of the European Council

On Wednesday afternoon, Pope Leo XIV held a telephone conversation with the President of the European Council, Mr António Costa, the Holy See Press Office reported.
In a statement, the Press Office said that during the cordial discussion, the Pope and the President of the European Council discussed the situation in the Middle East, with particular attention given to the West Bank in the State of Palestine and the situation of Christians in southern Lebanon.
The Holy See Press Office also added that the Holy Father also had shared reflections on his recent Apostolic Journey to Africa, 13-23 April, which brought him to Algeria, Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea.
The statement noted that the Pope "emphasized the importance of interreligious dialogue, the promotion of peace and support for the continent's most disadvantaged communities."
