Guinea closes 2025 Jubilee Year with an appeal to citizens - embrace civic responsibility
Joanitha Scholastique - Conakry
The closing Mass, which marked the end of Guinea's Jubilee celebrations, was celebrated on Saturday, 27 December, in Conakry by Archbishop Vincent Coulibaly. This event began with a moment of reflection at the tomb of Archbishop Raymond-Marie Tchidimbo, the first indigenous Guinean Archbishop of Conakry. The symbolic gesture reminded everyone that Christian hope is grounded in the testimony of those who have gone before us.
Spes non confundit
Throughout this Jubilee 2025, the theme "Spes non confundit," Hope does not disappoint, resonated in the hearts of all the faithful in Guinea.
The Jubilee ad hoc committee, for its part, ensured that the Jubilee message reached every diocese.
The closing ceremony included a pilgrimage from the Chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua to the Boffa Marian Sanctuary.
Archbishop Coulibaly emphasised that the opening of the Holy Door in 2024 was only the beginning: Christians are now sent into the world to bear witness with greater fidelity. As Guinea concludes its Jubilee, the Church ends this time of grace by invoking peace and respect for law and order in Guinea.
The next major event for the Church of Guinea will be the celebration of the 150th anniversary of evangelization, beginning on 8 February in all dioceses across the country, marking an important milestone in the nation's spiritual journey.
