IAEA urges restraint after reported strike on Iran’s Natanz site

The United Nations' nuclear watchdog has urged military restraint to avoid any risk of a nuclear accident after Iran said the Natanz nuclear facility was targeted by strikes.

The United Nations’ nuclear watchdog on Saturday urged military restraint after Iran said its Natanz nuclear facility had been targeted by strikes.

The International Atomic Energy Agency said Tehran informed the agency that the site “was attacked today,” though the IAEA reported no increase in off‑site radiation levels.

Natanz is reportedly one of three underground Iranian nuclear sites struck by the United States last June.

The reported strike comes as violence continues across the Middle East nearly four weeks into the conflict.

Saudi Arabia said it intercepted dozens of drones overnight, while neighboring Kuwait confirmed its air defense systems were activated in response to “hostile missile and drone threats.”

In Iraq, a drone targeted the headquarters of the National Intelligence Service in Baghdad early Saturday, striking the site in the Mansour district at 10:15 a.m. local time.

Israel said its forces clashed with the Iranian‑backed Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, killing four people. Lebanese media reported two Israeli raids on Beirut, while Hezbollah said it fired rockets at Israel’s Filon base near the northern city of Rosh Pinna.
