Pope receives Lithuanian Prime Minister at the Vatican

Pope Leo meets with the Prime Minister of Lithuania Inga Ruginienė in the Apostolic Palace. She then meets with the Vatican Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations to discuss international issues, including the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

This morning, on March 7, Pope Leo XIV received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, Inga Ruginienė, in a private audience at the Vatican Apostolic Palace. Following the meeting, she met with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.

Discussions at the Secretariat of State

"During the cordial meeting at the Secretariat of State," a note from the Holy See Press Office reports, "appreciation was expressed for the strong relations between the Holy See and Lithuania, highlighting the positive contribution of the Catholic Church to the dignity of the human person and the common good of society."

"The talks then focused on several international issues," the statement continues, "particularly the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, with hopes for efforts at all levels to find diplomatic solutions that would bring an end to the wars."
