Pope Leo XIV receives the President of the Republic of Malta

Pope Leo XIV received the President of the Republic of Malta, Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, in the Vatican on Monday morning.
The President subsequently met with Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, accompanied by Vatican Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher.
According to a statement released by the Holy See Press Office after the encounter, the talks at the Secretariat of State were cordial and there was an exchange of views on the current international situation, with particular attention given to the Middle East and Ukraine.
The Press Office noted that the parties highlighted the good bilateral relations between the Church and the State, and the fruitful cooperation in various contexts between them.
Moreover, the Maltese President and the Vatican officials discussed issues of common interest, including migration and the demographic situation.
